How to Replace Cartridge(s)

Here's how to install a new toner cartridge in your Brother DCP-8250DN laser printer:

  1. Wait for 10 minutes until the hot areas of the printer cool down.
  2. Press the front cover release button, then open the front cover. Take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly from the printer.
  3. Place them in a clean, flat surface. Push down on the lock lever and remove the used toner cartridge out of the drum unit.
  4. Take the new toner cartridge out of its protective bag. Hold both ends of the cartridge, then gently shake it from side to side a few times. This distributes the toner inside more evenly.
  5. Pull off the protective cover, then insert the new toner cartridge firmly into the drum unit until it locks in place.
  6. Clean the primary corona wire of the drum unit by gently sliding the tab from right to left, and back several times. Then, install the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back inside the printer.
  7. Close the front cover.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are compatible toner cartridges a worthy choice?

Yep! The compatible toner cartridges included in Inkjets.com's Brother TN780 & DR720 Compatible 3-Piece Combo Pack are more affordable than OEMs, but can produce the same high-quality print results.

How do I extend the life of my unopened toner cartridges?

Proper storage is key to retaining the quality and prolonging the life of your toner cartridges. This means keeping them somewhere dry and dark, with consistent temperature. Store them away from bright lights and gaseous cleaning materials because these can degrade their composition. The space you keep them in should be clean and dust-free, as well.

What's the difference between ink cartridges and toner cartridges?

Toner cartridges are used in laser printers like the Brother DCP-8250DN, while ink cartridges are used in inkjet printers.
