How to Replace Cartridge(s)

Installing a new toner cartridge in your Brother HL-L5100DNT is an easy process. Let these handy steps get you started:

  1. Check that your printer is turned on, then open the front cover.
  2. Remove the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly from the machine. Take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit by pushing down on the lock lever.
  3. Once that's done, remove the new toner cartridge out of its packaging. Take the cartridge out of its protective cover, as well.
  4. Install the new cartridge into the drum unit until you hear it locking into place. Clean the primary corona wire of the drum unit by gently sliding the tab left to right, and back, several times.
  5. Place the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly back into the printer.
  6. Close the front cover.
