How to Replace Cartridge(s)

By following the basic steps below, you will be able to replace the ink cartridge on the Brother MFC-490CW:

  1. Open the ink cartridge cover of your MFC-490CW.
  2. Unlock the empty ink cartridge by pressing down on it. Afterwards, remove it from its slot.
  3. Pull the new ink cartridge out of its protective box.
  4. Don't forget to release the vacuum seal by rotating the green knob on the yellow protective cap clockwise.
  5. Install the ink cartridge into its corresponding slot.
  6. Make sure that the cartridge is secured in its position before proceeding.
  7. Close the ink cartridge cover. Your Brother machine is now ready for regular use.
