How to Replace Cartridge(s)

Here are the steps to replacing the toner cartridge on the Brother MFC-9140CDN:

 

  1. Make sure that the MFC-9140CDN is on.
  2. Open the top cover and slide the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly out of the printer.
  3. Press down the green lock lever and pull the toner cartridge out of the assembly.
  4. Remove the packaging of the new toner cartridge, and lightly rock the cartridge to distribute the toner inside evenly.
  5. Remove the protective cover and install the new toner cartridge into the drum unit.
  6. Clean the primary corona wire by lightly sliding the green tab from side to side.
  7. Insert the drum unit assembly back into the printer.
  8. Close the top cover.

The 'Cartridge Error' usually appears on the MFC-9140CDN display when the new toner cartridge is installed incorrectly. Try removing the new cartridge from the drum unit and reinstall it properly. Then, reinsert the drum unit assembly back into the printer until it clicks into place.
