Sometimes a printer will hold the memory of a previous cartridge and have difficulty recognizing a new one. Try these simple steps to alleviate the problem:
1. Turn your printer On and remove ONLY the defective cartridge.
2. Power Off the printer using the Power button or the Power Switch.
3. Unplug the printer from the power cord. Either end of the power cord is fine.
4. Let the printer REST for a minimum of 30 minutes.
5. Reverse the process. (Plug it in, turn it on, place the defective ink back.)
Also take an eraser or lint-free cloth and lightly erase/wipe over the cartridge contacts or chip. A chip that is even slightly dirty might lead to errors and recognition problems.
