How to Replace Cartridge(s)

Replace the ink cartridge in your HP DeskJet 990cm printer by using these simple steps:

  1. Confirm that the out tray is down, then switch on your printer.
  2. Open the top cover. The print cradle will move automatically to the center of the machine for easier access. When the cradle stops, remove the used ink cartridge by raising the cradle latch and lifting the cartridge from its slot.
  3. Unpack the new ink cartridge. Carefully take off the sealing tape from the cartridge, making sure to hold only the black plastic.
  4. Avoid contact with the ink nozzles and copper contacts to prevent print errors later on.
  5. Insert the new ink cartridge into the empty slot, then push the cradle latch down until it snaps closed.
  6. Close the top cover.
