How to Replace Cartridge(s)

Replacing ink cartridges for the HP OfficeJet Pro 1170 is easy. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Lift the document cover.
  2. Open the ink cartridge access cover on the left side of the machine. Use the cover to prop open the document cover during cartridge replacement.
  3. Lift up the latch for the ink cartridge to be replaced.
  4. Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging. Remove protective covering on the new ink cartridge.
  5. Insert the new ink cartridge into its corresponding slot. Color cartridges go to the left while black cartridges go to the right.
  6. Push the new ink cartridge down until it is firmly in place.
  7. Close the ink cartridge access cover.
