How to Replace Cartridge(s)

Running out of ink? Here's how to replace the old cartridge in your HP OfficeJet 3831 printer:

Make sure the power is on, then close the output tray extender and rotate the output tray clockwise to stow it inside the device.
Open the front door and the cartridge access door.
Wait for the print carriage to move to the center of the device.
Once the carriage is silent and idle, press down on the used ink cartridge and pull it out of its slot.
Unpack the new ink cartridge. Carefully remove its sealing tape using the pull tab.
Slide the new ink cartridge into the empty slot until it clicks into place.
Close the cartridge access door, then the front door.
Pull out the output tray and tray extender.
