How to Replace Cartridge(s)

Replacing ink cartridges for the HP Officejet 5609 is easy. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Make sure printer is turned on.
  2. Open the ink cartridge access door by pulling it forward.This will move the cartridge carriage to right side of the machine.
  3. Wait until the cartridge carriage is silent and idle before pushing down on the old ink cartridge to release it and then pulling it out of its slot toward you.
  4. Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging. Remove protective covering on the new ink cartridge.
  5. Insert the new ink cartridge into its corresponding slot.
  6. Push the new ink cartridge into slot until it clicks into place.
  7. Close the ink cartridge access door.
