Here's how to replace the ink cartridge on the HP Officejet 8040 E-All-in-One:

  1. Make sure that the Officejet 8040 E-All-in-One is on. Then, open the cartridge access door.
  2. Pull the empty ink cartridge out of the printer.
  3. Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging. Then, use the pull tab to remove the plastic protective tape from the new cartridge.
  4. Insert the new ink cartridge into the empty slot. Gently push it until you hear an audible click.
  5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 if you need to replace another empty cartridge.
  6. Close the cartridge access door.
