How to Replace Cartridge(s)

Here's how to replace the HP Photosmart 5525 ink cartridge:

  1. Make sure that the HP Photosmart 5525 is on.
  2. Open the ink cartridge access door and wait until the carriage moves to the replacement position before you continue.
  3. Pull the empty ink cartridge out of its slot.
  4. Unpack the new ink cartridge and remove its plastic wrap prior to installation.
  5. Twist the orange cap counterclockwise to remove it from the new cartridge.
  6. Bend the tab on the new cartridge and slide it into the empty slot. Make sure to press down on it until it is securely seated.
  7. Repeat the steps 3 to 6 to replace other empty ink cartridges.
  8. Close the ink cartridge access door.
