- Raise printer top cover.
- Remove old ink cartridge by pushing it down and pulling out toward you.
- Remove new ink cartridge from packaging. Remove protective covering from new ink cartridge.
- Slide new ink cartridge upward at a slight angle, copper contacts facing the printer. Push new ink cartridge until it snaps into place.
- HP 56 (C6656AN) black ink cartridges and HP 58 (C6658AN) photo ink cartridges go into the right slot, while HP 57 (C6657AN) tri-color ink cartridges go into the left slot.
