Here's how to replace the ink cartridge on the HP Photosmart C4480:

If you haven't powered on the C4480, push the Power button.
The print carriage will then move to the right part of the machine. Wait until it is idle and quiet before proceeding.
Slide the used ink cartridge out of its slot. Throw it according to your local regulations.
Take the new ink cartridge out of its packaging. Set aside the bag for future use.
Use the pink pull tab in removing the black plastic tape.
Put the ink cartridge into the proper slot. Be sure to secure it until you hear it click into place.
Replace the other cartridge by repeating the same steps above.
Close the ink cartridge door.
