Here's the fast and proper way to install a new ink cartridge in your HP Photosmart D5400 Series printer:
- Check that the printer is on, then open the ink cartridge access door by lifting from the front right of the machine until the door locks into place. Wait for the print carriage to stop at its replacement position.
- Release the used ink cartridge by pressing on its tab, then remove it from its slot.
- Unpack the new ink cartridge. Twist the orange cap to snap it off the cartridge.
- Slide the new ink cartridge into the empty slot, pushing until it clicks into place.
