Here's how to replace the ink cartridge on the HP Photosmart P1000

  1. Press the Power button to turn on the Photosmart P1000.
  2. Open the top cover and wait for the ink cartridge cradle to move to the center.
  3. Raise the cradle latch for the empty cartridge and lift the cartridge out of the printer.
  4. Unpack the new ink cartridge and remove the tape prior to installation.
  5. Insert the new cartridge into the empty slot. Then, lower the cradle latch to lock the cartridge into place.
  6. Close the top cover.
