How to Replace Cartridge(s)

Replacing a cartridge for the Brother MFC-L8650CDW is easy. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Make sure the machine is turned on.
  2. Press the front cover release button and pull open the front cover.
  3. Hold the handle of the drum unit and pull it out until the drum unit stops.
  4. Hold the handle of the old toner cartridge to be replaced and gently push it toward the machine to unlock it.
  5. Pull out the old toner cartridge to be replaced from the drum unit.
  6. Clean the corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the tab from left to right and right to left several times.
  7. Remove the new toner cartridge from its packaging. Remove protective covering on the new toner cartridge.
  8. Hold the new toner cartridge by the handle and slide the new toner cartridge into the machine, gently pulling it toward you until it clicks into place.
  9. Push the drum unit back inside the machine until it stops.
  10. Close the front cover of the machine.
