How to Replace Cartridge(s)
If you need to replace the ink cartridge on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8216, follow the basic steps below:
- If you haven't turned on the 8216 yet, press the Power button. Before you continue, wait until the printer is idle and quiet.
- Load letter, A4, or legal paper into the paper tray.
- Raise and push back the ink cartridge access door. The print carriage will then move and stop at the replacement position.
- Look for the cartridge that you wish to replace. Press down on it until it is removed from its slot.
- Remove the new ink cartridge from its protective box. Don't touch the electrical contacts and ink port.
- With the contacts facing the printer, place the ink cartridge into its corresponding slot.
- Push the cartridge firmly inside until it is completely seated.
- If necessary, repeat the same process above to replace the other ink cartridges.
- Close the ink cartridge access door. The warm-up sequence will then start.
