How to Replace Cartridge(s)

By following this guide, you will be able to replace the ink cartridge on the HP Photosmart C309:

  1. If your HP PhotoSmart machine is not yet turned on, push the Power button.
  2. Open the top cover, and then wait for the carriage to move to its center position.
  3. The carriage should be idle and quiet before you start removing the cartridge that needs replacement.
  4. Take the old ink cartridge out of its slot. Then, set it aside for recycling.
  5. Remove the replacement ink cartridge from its wrapper.
  6. To peel off the plastic protective tape, use the orange pull tab.
  7. Twist the orange plastic cap until it is completely removed.
  8. Insert the ink cartridge into its corresponding slot. Make sure that the color of the cartridge matches with the color on the empty slot.
  9. Close the top cover and you're all set!
