Here's how to replace the ink cartridge on the Brother MFC-J890DW:
- Open the ink cartridge cover of your MFC-J890DW.
- Release the used ink cartridge from its slot by pressing the lock release lever. Then, lift the cartridge out of the printer.
- Open the box for the replacement ink cartridge, and then pull out the cartridge.
- If you're installing the black cartridge, then lightly rock the cartridge horizontally 15 times prior to installation.
- Verify if the color of the ink cartridge matches the color of the slot before installing.
- By pressing the “PUSH" mark, the cartridge will be properly inserted and fully secured in its position.
- Close the ink cartridge cover. Wait until the printer finishes resetting its dot counter before you begin printing.
